Glasgow Rent Strike (1915) 

• 1915 Clyeside engineers began a strike over pay that would last until 1916 
• Meanwhile property owners used influx of workers to increase the rents of industrial workers 
• Housewives protested by refusing to pay rents, became the Glasgow Rent Strike 
• Led by Mary Barbour
• Helen Crawford and Agnes Dollan also led the Glasgow Womens Housing Associaition 
• Working Class men soon joined the strike 
• Used often militant tactics, throwing used laundry and potatoes at rent collectors
