Ablation = the process of wastage of snow or ice, especially by melting.

Accumulation = the net gain in ice mass. The sources of accumulation are direct snowfall and avalanching from higher slopes.

Extensional Flow = this is the extension and related thinning of glacier ice in those zones where velocity increases.
