Reichstag Fire

• 27th February and blamed on Dutch communinust Marinus van der Lubbe. Hitler then used this stunt to front his propaganda scheme to say that communism was bad and the Nazi's were good, damaging the KPD and persuading the decree for 'For the Protection of the People and State'.
• After this the Nazis won 288 seats, just over 50%. 

Enabling Act

• A law saying that the Nazi government could produce laws without the Reichstag's approval. To pass this Act they needed 2/3 of the reichstag to say yes. 
• To reduce opposition he made sure that people opposed to the act would not be there to vote. He used the decree For The Protection of People and State to ban the KPD, and also to persuade the Catholic Church to vote for it in return for protecting the…
