Treaty of Versailles-  The treaty was signed in June 1919 in the Palace of Versailles. The main people apart of this was: George Clemenceau, David Lloyd George and Woodrow Wilson.

Impact of the Treaty on Germany

  • Loss of money- Destroyed the economy and the business side
  • Reduction of the army- They couldn't defend themselves from other countries
  • Exemption of guilt- Blamed for the war and killing their own people.

Spartacist uprising-The Spartacist surprising was caused by regular disagreements between the governments in December 1918. In January 1919, the Spartacists (Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Leibenknecht) took over the governments newspaper and tried to organise a strike in Berlin (this lasted 7 days before the revolt ended and the Spartacists leaders were shot). The Weimar government sent Freikorps to stop the revolt.
