Intro
Antartica and its surrounding ice sheets cover 13 million km. Periglacial and tundra areas exist in dry high latitutude areas are not permanently covered by snow and ice. Such as Canada and iceland.
Alpine regions occur in Asia (Himilayas), Europe, Austrilasia, Americas.

In the northern hemisphere, the snow line is found at a higher altitude on south facing slopes than on those thatface north, as the south facing slopes receive more insolation.
