Before tourism hit Benidorm, it was a fishing industry in Spain.

In the 1950s, Benidorm had a decline in tuna fishing that lead to them needing another source of income - and so, they turned to tourism.

Tourism industries in Benidorm expanded slowly, and gained visitors from northern Europeans.
