Salt Marsh Formation
- Form in low energy environments only
- Depositional land forms help to shelter them (i.e. spits)
- Requires a large sediment input (i.e. from rivers, sea)
- Floculation of mud - when fresh water from the river mixes with the sea water, the negativly charged clay particles become neutralized, causeing them to clump together
- Mud becomes heavier and more dense; it accumulates in shallow water because there is little energy
- Blue-green algae binds…
