For a long time, scientists thought that proteins carried the genetic information from generation to generation. Because they
A) did not know a lot about DNA as they couldn't see it. but they could see proteins in abundance in cells.
B) proteins had more structures, i.e primary, secondary, tertary and quarternary
C) There are 20 amino acids but only 4 bases. so proteins would produce more genetic variation than DNA.
