What are Genes?

Genes are sections of DNA found on chromosomes. They code for proteins (polypeptides) as they are the instructions to make them. These proteins are made from amino acids, with different proteins having a different number and order of amino acids.

Amino Acids and Triplet Codes.

Each amino acid is coded for by a sequence of three bases called a triplet or codon in a gene. There is a possibility of four bases A, T, G, C. The different sequences of the bases code for different amino acids and some amino acids are coded…
