Why the General Strike failed
- Govt prepared - planning during 9 month subsidy period
- Govt set up the OMS (the Organisation for the Maintenance of Supplies) under Winston Churchill - took hard line against the strike using propaganda, army + police
- Middle class opposed the strike - Communism scared them and many communists supported the strike
- Many middle class men volunteered as strike breakers…
