Gender 

• In some reptiles gender can be determined by the environment .

• However in mammals it is determined by genetics.

The following chromosomes are called sex chromosomes:

X chromosomes

Y chromosomes

A fertilised human egg cell has 23 pairs of chromosomes the 23rd pair are your sex determining chromosomes.

X&Y chromosomes are the sex determining chromosomes.
