data logging means recording automaticaly, it captures and stores information using sensors. the information  is first stored as data and then downloaded into a computer package for analysis

data logging is best used whenever large amounts of data need to be collected over  very long or short amounts of time or from hostile ebvironments

examples of data logging activities include collecting weather data via a satellite, radioactivity from a nuclear power station or temperature data from inside a pizza oven
