C3 2.1 Strong and weak acids/alkalis
- Acids in aqueous solutions produce H+ ions
- Alkalis in aqueous solutions produce OH- ions
(H+) Acids = proton donors. This is because they are positive ions, and so can act as a source of protons.
(OH-) Alkalis = proton acceptors. This is because they can combine with protons to form water.
