Describe what is meant by ‘continuous training’. Using your knowledge of training zones and the principles of training, explain how continuous training can be used to improve performance in a cross country race.

Continuous training is any physical training that involves no rest intervals.

Cross country is an aerobic activity and so in training the athlete should attempt to train at 60-80% of their MHR, at low-moderate intesity for 15+ minutes. This would improve the athletes performance as it will improve their cardiovascular endurance, which will allow their circulatory
