Gambia- A loser of globalisation?

Population: 1.849 million

Life expectancy: 58.5 years

Gambia is located on the west coast of Africa and is a small country that relies a lot on agriculture and tourism. Both of these incomes are volatile and sursceptable to the climate and consumers tastes, meaning that the country does not have good economic stability or a reliable income. Some of the many problems the country faces are:

  • Lack of mineral or natural deposits resources
  • Limited agriculture due to climate
  • Natural hazards eg. drought
  • 75% of population rely on subsistence farming to live
