Moment of a force = force (N) x distance of force from pivot(m)

By working out the moment of a force in newtonmetres you can find its turning effect. For example:  e.g. a force of 80N, 2m form the fulcrum, has a moment of 160 Nm Moment of a force = force x distance of force from the pivot. = 80 x 2 = 160
