The Immediate response - the hypothalmus stimulates the medulla ( the inner part of the adrenal gland) to release adreneline. This causes the pupils to dilate, heart rate and respirration rate to increase and the body begins to perspire. Non vital functions in the body such as digestion and salivation production are inhibited, this is why it feels like butterflies in thestomach and a dry mouth. These functions are stoopped to allow maximum resourses for the still going functions.
