The amygdala and hypothalamus:

  • when faced with a threat an arera of the brain called the amygdala becomes active.
  • this associates sensory signals wityh emotions associated with fight or flight, such as anger or fear.
  • this then sends a distress signal to the hypothalamus, which functions like a command centre in the brain.
