Bi-Polar analysis- gives details of success of coastal defences, allows us to evaluate successes in comparison to other locations along the coast

Cost Benefit analysis- tells us whether an area is worth protecting, does the economic cost justify the social risks?

Flood Risk survey- tells us how vulnerable an area is to flooding, therefore the success of the sea defences and whether they are justified

Torquay:

Footfall survey- tells us how popular an area is, indication of population and popularity of Torquay as a coastal resort
