Federalism in the US

federalism is ever changing in the US, due to the ever-changing nature of the US. factors such as westward expansion, growth in population and industrialisation all have effects upon federalism within the US. during the first part of the 20th century, factors like this meant a decrease in state power, and an increase in federal power, however, towards the end of the 20th century, there was a U-turn and america started to favour state control more. 

under Bush, federal spending grew at a rate not seen before…
