State Proprietary Factories
- Provided manufacturing essential for national security
- Armaments, sailcloth, arms, gunfounding factories
- State run factories with peasant workers who were attached to a factory for life
- Also had prisoners of war, beggars, criminals and orphans as workers
- Raw Materials: wool obtained instead of taxes
- Factories had relatively low qualities of work
Estate Factories
- Developed in 18th Century by nobles on their estate
- Nobles with no factories sold or hired work…
