Outline

Hodges and Tizard (1989) - Followed 65 British children from early life to adolescence who had been placed in an instituion when they were less than 4 months old. There was a policy against the caretakers forming attachments and in an early study 70% were unable to care deeply about anyone. Some children remained in the institution but some were adopted and had the same attachment as normal children but had problems with peers. The restored children less likely to form attachments and also had problems with peers.
