Factors influencing the speed ice moves:
-Steepness of slope = More kinetic energy so it speeds up the movement.
-Permeability of the surface = More rainwater that can soak into the surface, more likely it will move.
-Temperature = Warmer it is, the more likely glacial slippage will occur.
-Thickness of ice = More pressure so more water at bedrock, so slippage is more likely to occur.
-Amount of meltwater = Less friction so will move much faster.
-Proximity of equilibrium line = Extensional flow occurs so the closer to the equilibrium line the faster it will go.
