Explain how utilitarianism may be applied to euthanasia

Utilitarianism is based around the principle of bringing the greatest happiness to the greatest number and it can be used to make decisions about euthanasia by using this principle in Bentham and Mill’s versions of utilitarianism

Firstly, Mill argues that life should be lived with the most pleasure and the minimum pain and that the pleasure should be a higher one of the mind rather than a low one of the body. As euthanasia is a low pleasure as it is only your body that will be out of pain euthanasia would be not allowed.
