Evil and suffering

The classical argument is that-

  • God is all-powerful, all-loving and all-seeing but evil exists. St.Augustine saw this as an issue as if God were all of those factors then surely he would have the power and the loving desire to stop it; this is supporting the inconsistent triad.

Iranues ties the existence of evil in with human free will. He believd that God's intention was to make humans faultless but they must develop this through the free will he gave them. From this they had the opportunity to disboey him. Suffering comes from humans using their free will to disobey God but
