Evidence for Continental Drift

• The shapes of the continents often appear to correspond as though they may fit together. For example South America and Africa fit together closely. This may be evidence that they were at one point joined together and have broken apart.
• Sediment on either side of the Mid-Atlantic ridge line up in parallel bands showing that sediments of the same age match up.
