  • Supports the idea that STM is not a unitary store. KF could hold only 1-2 acoustic items but his visual STM was unaffected 
  • This suggests his phonological loop was damaged but not his visuo-spatial sketchpad. This selective damage could not occur if the stores were unitary

Dual Task Studies

  • Aim to show that we can perform two tasks, but only if they use different slave systems
  • If the tasks use the same slave system, performane is impaired because each slave has limeted capacity
