EVIDENCE
- Kuyken et al 2008 found Prozac was better than CBT at preventing relapse, offered a more effective change in quality if life, and was more cost-effective.
STRENGHTS
- Antidepressants can be perscribed to boost mood so that other therapies like CBT can be used. Although it takes a few weeks for antidepressants to work, this may be necesary where mood is too depressed for an individual to focus no making a change in their thinking.
