Determinism/Free Will

Does the study suggest that criminal behaviour is determined (due to external factors outside the control of the individual) or free will (the individual is able to choose how to behave)?

Determined - The individual might have been conditioned to behave in a certain way by their family members.

Free Will - Cognitive factors?

On the other hand, not all children who live in high risk families will turn to crime.

Reductionism/Holism

Is the study reductionist?
