PETAL PARAGRAPH 1

The older generations and Geralds treatment of eva.

Mr Birling did not care about his employees- only himself. He only saw Eva as another worker from a lower class. This is ilistrated in the quote "Well, we've several young women there, y'know, and they keep changing. In the quote he used the verb to explain that women come and go from the factory. This could symbolise that mr Birling is a selfish man who only cared for himself. He had to fire Eva because she wanted more money than he was willing to give. Perhaps, this also suggests socialism because Mr Birling wants the rich to stay rich and the poor to stay poor.
