Equal Education

The NAACP were involved in a number of cases to improve education for black people.

In 1954, 20 states had segregated schools.

The first case was the Brown vs Topeka in 1954:

• Topeka, Kansas
• Linda Brown (7yrs old)
• Had to walk 20 blocks on a dangerous trek to go to intergregated school
• Even thought there was a school 1 block away (segregated)
• Took the Board of Education to court
