Epping Forest (Temperate Deciduous Woodland) - Case Study

Epping Forest is located west of Loughton and north east of central London. 70% is deciduous woodland and the rest is grasslands and marsh.It spans almost 12 acres and is used for activities such as:

  • Golf
  • Archery
  • Fishing
  • Horse-riding
  • Dog walking
  • Environmental courses
  • Conservation

It used to be used for grazing livestock but is now a historical tourist attraction due to it's many uses. It is also popular as there isn't many forests around London.

It must be managed sustainably as it's a popular area for leisure activities. It is recognised nationally and internationally as important for conservation. This means that it is protected by law. The government has ownership of the forest so they…
