Enzymes:

Enzymes are catalysts because they speed up chemical reactions such as;

• photosynthesis
• respiration
• protein synthesis

Enzymes can also be used to catalyse the same type of reaction many times.

Enzymes speed up these reactions by lowering the activation energy needed meaning the particles need less energy to collide meaning more reactions.
