 TIPS FOR A HIGHER GRADE!

1. Read the questions with care and highlight the key words
If the question says write a 'list', don't waste time on full sentences; if the question says 'in your own words' - make sure you do just that!

2. If appropriate to the question - open with an overview.
This gives the big picture by telling briefly what a text is about - its subject matter, content and circumstance (that is context), why it was written (showing consideration of aspects such as form, genre, and purpose), who it was written for (its audience) and - of course - how you intend to tackle the question.
