Good afternoon, and welcome. My name is Bethan Phillips, and I am representing Caerphilly council. I was urged to call a meeting in order to adress any concerns or queries regarding the merging of Oakdale and Pontllanfraith Comprehensive Schools. After much deliberation, this came as a response to the government's scheme 21st century schools. We intend upon merging Oakdale and Pontllanfraith comprehensive schools into 1 'super-school', situated in Oakdale. This will lead to many opportunities, including a wider offering of curriculum, improved facilities, and more vocational courses for pupils to undertake. The council would like to reassure the community that Blackwood comprehensive school, and other surrounding schools, will continue to recieve support and attention, throughout this development.
