Signalling using hormones

  • Endocrine system is another system (in addition to the nervous system) used for communication around the body.

  • Endocrine system uses the blood circulatory system to transport its signals

  • The signals released by the endocrine system are molecules called hormones

Two types;

  • Protein and peptide Hormones, derivatives of amino acids (adrenaline, insulin and glucagon)
