1. How did English society and economy change
1.1 Poor relief
· Before the reformation, the church was responsible for providing poor relief, meaning that alternative forms of relief were necessary.
· Parliament attempted to deal with this. Acts were passed in 1552 and 1555. A further act was ineffective in 1563. National legislation lagged behind local provisions
· Relief was needed to due to poverty, vagabondage, harvest failures etc
