ELIZABETH CHARACTER: 

Elizabeth was descirbed by Norman Jones as her political behaviour and personable behaviour being very similar - highlighting her ability compared to her sister. She was protestant but she could tolerate the Catholic Chruch. 

AIMS:

- CONSOLIDATE THE THRONE

- SETTLE RELIGIOUS ISSUES

- TO PURSUE A PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT WITH THE FRENCH.

1.Married no one when it was brought up in Parliament she defeated or reacted furiously  - failed in that aspect. She believed the disadvantages of marriage  out weighed the advantages despite the political risks of not having an heir. When it was brought up aiang in 1566 by members of the Privy Council including Cecil and Leicester Liz reacted furiously banishing Leicester and  and the Earl of Pembroke from the presence of the Chamber and publicly rebuking other members of the Council ang summoning both houses of Parliament for a tongue-lashing. There was suggested that she could marry Francois Duke of Anjou brother of the King Henry III of france public horrified child could be under French influence but nothing came of it and crisis was averted.
