Key Elements of Tragedy
- Antagonist - villain; the character on the dark side
- Protagonist - hero/heroine; the character on the light side
- Anagnorisis - critical discovery/recognition of a person and their morals/something that illuminates the protagonist's downfall
- Bathos - an effect of disappointment by n accidental change in mood from the sublime to the ridiculous
- Pathos - a sense of pity/to appeal to emotions/motives
- Cartharsis - an emotional release
- Hamartia - a fatal flaw
- Hubris - excessive pride/self-confidence
- Melodrama - sensual dramatic piece with over dramatic characters and event to appeal to emotions
- Chorus - group of performers who would provide contextual knowledge and emotion in the scene
