Electric Circuits (P9)
1. P = VI, P=I2R
2. V = IR
3. E = Pt
4. Circuit components:
(Sources, switches, resistors [fixed/variable], lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, fuses, magnetic coils, transformers)
5. Current in a series circuit: The current in a series circuit is the same at any point I1 = I2 = I3
6. Potential difference in a series circuit: The sum of all the p.d.s across the components is equal to the total p.d. across the supply VT = V1 + V2
7. Resistance of two or more resistors in a series circuit: The sum of the resistance of all the resistors is equal to the total resistance RT = R1 + R2
8. Current in a parallel circuit: The current from the source is equal to the sum of the currents in separate branches IT = I1 + I2
9. Potential difference in a parallel circuit: The p.d. across each branch of the circuit is the same V1 = V2 = V3
10. Resistance in a parallel circuit: The total resistance in the circuit should be less than the resistance of…
