Effects of Insulin:
- increases the permeability if cell membranes to glucose, thereby increasing the rate of glucose uptake by cells.
- stimulates the liver and muscles cells to convert glucose into glycogen for storage.
- increases oxidation of glucose during tissue respiration.
Diabetes mellitus
is a disease in which the body is unable to control its blood glucose concentration so that it remains within normal limits.
