The Frankfurt School

- The School was concerned with the rise of the media industry and the impact it would have on society

- They argured that the rise of the "culture industry" would lead to an increase in standardisation within society

- Because of Capitalism everything in society is controlled by the mass media including culture

- The mass media is easily manpulated an indocrtinated by society, making them less likely to critise it (making them a passive audience)

- An example of this would be that as audience may watch a TV program not because they want to but because they have been manipulated to watch that TV show
