Ecotourism - Tataquara Lodge

Context:

     ~  Tataquara Lodge is an island in the Xingu River in Para, Brazil

     ~  Owned and operated by cooperative of 6 local tribes of indigenuous people

     ~  The lodge has 15 rooms

     ~  Offers activities such as fishing, canoeing, wildlife viewing and forest walks

     ~  Surrounding rainforest has rich variety of wildlife, also some endangered species e.g. harpy eagle and giant river otter

Advantages of Tataquara Lodge:

       Environmental 

 -  Lodge was built from local materials, e.g. straw and wood that was found on ground, means they didn't have to cut trees. These materials make buildings blend in with the natural environment so they don't spoil the scenery
