Diet and Excersise B1a 2.1

HideShow resource information

A balanced diet contains:

  • Carbohydrates
  • Proteins
  • Fats
  • Vitamins
  • Minerals
  • Fibre
  • Water

If your diet isn't balanced, you will end up malnourished. If you don't have enough vitamins and minerals, you could end up with deficiency diseases such as scurvy (a lack of Vit C)

If we take in too much energy we can become fat and if we don't take in enough energy, we become thin.

Different people require different amounts of energy depending on these things:

  • If you are male, you need more energy than a woman unless she is pregnant
  • If you are a teenager, you will need more energy than a 70 year old
  • If you little exercise, you don't need as much food as someone who does exercise
