Developments in the early entertainment industry
- In 1920's many people especially whites were better off and had more leisure time than their predecessors
- They spent a lot more money on entertainment and so stimulated money and buisness
- It was all part of the 'Roaring 20's'
- Jazz became popular
- It had developed out of ragtime and blues music amoung black people in the southern part of the USA.
- It rapidly spread throughout the USA in the 1920's and provided black musicians with a way of gaining respect and admiration.
- Jazz clubs developed and were frequented by the young, they wanted to shake off old traditions.
- The cotton club in New York became a famous nightclub
- Black musicians such as Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong became famous.
