Developmental Approach

Assumption: cognitive, behavioural and emotional development is an ongoing process which takes place overtime. Influences nature-nurture debate

Strenghts : 1) Many studies are longitudanal so researchers do actually get tostudy changes over time. e.g Freud study Han's over two years and witnessed much emotional developmental change such as resolving the oedipus complex. Samuel and Bryant studied children from aged 5 to 8.5 allowing them to see stages in cognitive development. GAINS LOTS OF QUALITATIVE DATA
