Development is when a country is improving

1) When a country develops it basically gets better for the people living there- their quality of life improves ( e.g. wealth, health and safety).

2) The level of development is different in different countries, e.g. France is more developed than Ethiopia.

3) Devlopment is pretty hard to measure because it includes so many things. But you can compare development of different countries using ' measures of development'. Here are a few:

Gross Domestic Product ( GDP) - this is the total value of goods and services a country produces in a year. It's often in US dollars. This is a measure of wealth and as a country develops it gets higher.

Gross National Income ( GNI) - This is the total value of goods and services people of that nationality produce in a year. It's also called Gross National Product ( GNP). This is also a measure of wealth and as a country develops it gets higher.
