Describe and evaluate Bowlby’s theory of attachment


Bowlby’s theory of attachment states that attachment is due to nature. He says a child has to make an attachment during the critical period of 3 years, or else this will have serious consequences later in life. He also states that the effects of deprivation are irreversible (making an attachment and then losing it at a later date) and wouldn’t be able to form healthy adult relationships.
