Start Bay Barrier Beach System -
* low tides of less than 0.3 m in height with surging breakers constructively build up the beach profile
*High tides of 4.5 m in height with plunging breakers are destructive against the beach profile and allow sediment to be taken away via the northshore drift
*At Torcross because of this there has been a decreases in shingle from 100m in 1930 to 50m in 1980.
*At South Hallsands there has also been a decrease in shingle of up to 1.4m which greatly threatened the exisitence of it after the storm in 1917
*Sea Wall has been installed…
