Data Analysis

When research has been conducted using quantitative methods, the researcher will then have a set of raw data scores. There are 2 types of measures that can be taken; central tendency and dispersion.

Measures of central tendency:

• Mean
• More sensitive than the median as it uses all the values
• Can be misrepresentative if there is an extreme value
• Median 
• Not affected by extreme scores, can give a representative value
